Planning Your Service

Our team is here to assist you at every step of organising a cremation. It is a difficult time, but we will do all we can to help.

There are some statutory essentials that need to be met and we will guide you through the process. For example, you need to register the death before a cremation date can be confirmed. Nonetheless, you can still make a start with some of the arrangements for the service.

Our ceremony hall, with its stunning views accommodates up to 160 people in a warm, tranquil setting. A further 80 people can follow the service on screens in our indoor waiting area.

We allow a full hour between services giving you plenty of time to gather, hold an appropriate ceremony and say your goodbyes before departing.

There is no feeling of hurry and fluster. If you want, further time can be allocated.

We encourage you to personalise the service. The ceremony hall is a flexible space and can be dressed as you like with personal mementoes such as shoes, clothes, flags, guitars, etc.

Our audio system will provide the music with special memories for you with large screens that allow you to show photographs or film during the service. For those that can’t make the service personally, we can record the event and have it available to view online for seven days following the date of the service. We can also provide you with a digital recording to keep.

We have an induction loop for the hard of hearing and can, of course, accommodate those with special mobility requirements.

We will do everything we can to help you celebrate the life that has passed in a way that is special to you. All we ask is that you discuss your wishes with our team or your funeral director in advance.

FAQs

Is there car parking?

There is a large car 100+ space park with an adjacent disabled parking.

If I arrive early where do I go?

On arrival family and friends can gather in our modern, comfortable, and quiet waiting room.

Do you offer webcasting?

Our webcasting system is fully automated, and an increasingly popular option for those who cannot attend the service in person. This can be made available to view on-line for 7 days following the date of the service.

Can I show photographs?

Large screens allow you to show photographs and videos of your life together, your funeral director will guide you through the options.

Can the service be recorded?

Whilst many are happy to use a funeral as closure, others wish to keep a recording of the service. Your service can be recorded to keep as a download link via email, on DVD, or USB stick.

How do I play a favourite song?

We can source any music that has been made commercially available for your ceremony and play it through a state-of-the-art media system. Just let your funeral director know your choices.

Where is the coffin placed?

When you lose someone, who is central to your life, it is only fitting they should rest front and centre of the Ceremony Hall when you meet to celebrate their life.

How many does the Ceremony Hall seat?

The ceremony hall seats 150 guests and has a large picture window wall framing views across the Hurlet Hills. A further 80 people can follow the service on screens in our indoor waiting area.

Are there toilets?

There are toilets in the waiting area, including a disabled toilet.

Do I have to close the curtains?

We understand how difficult families find it as the curtain closes. You will see something very different at The Hurlet Crematorium. Our delicate voiles gently wrap around the coffin, no doors, no noise. If you still choose not to do this, that’s fine, we understand.
