Location: Hurlet Crematorium
Position: Crematorium Assistant
Hours: Part-time – 20 hours per week
Salary: £11.44 per hour

Are you a hardworking and compassionate individual looking for a varied role in a meaningful environment? The Hurlet Crematorium is seeking a dedicated Crematorium Assistant to join our back-of-house team. This role is vital in ensuring our crematorium operates smoothly and respectfully, providing crucial support behind the scenes.

Working flexibly, 5 days per week 4 hours per day which will include regular weekends, evenings and early mornings on a rota basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cremation Operations: Assist with the safe and respectful operation of cremation equipment, following all legal, ethical, and procedural guidelines. Full training will be provided.
  • Car Park Management: Assist with managing the car park to ensure smooth traffic flow and a safe and welcoming experience for all visitors.
  • Grounds Maintenance: Maintain the crematorium grounds to a high standard, including gardening, landscaping, and general upkeep to provide a tranquil and serene environment for visitors.
  • Memorial Grounds Upkeep and Plot Creation: Ensure the memorial grounds are well-maintained, clean, and presentable, and assist with the preparation and creation of new plots.
  • General Support: Provide general assistance to other crematorium staff and help with additional tasks as needed to ensure the crematorium runs efficiently and respectfully.

  • Hardworking and proactive with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Able to handle physically demanding tasks, including outdoor work and manual handling.
  • Compassionate and respectful, understanding the sensitive nature of the role.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a similar role or environment is desirable but not essential. Full training will be provided.
