£7000 Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice Donation
Hurlet Crematorium Raises Vital Funds for Local Hospice
The Hurlet Crematorium has made an important £7000 donation towards the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice to help support the essential end-of-life care services they provided for families from across the local area.
This is the second major donation that the Hurlet crematorium has made to local charities since opening in December 2021, bringing the total donated to an incredible £19000.
The funds have been raised through its membership of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management National Recycling of Metals Scheme, with this latest £7000.00 donation officially presented to Michelle Jeffcott, Head of Business Development at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice at the new crematorium located within the Hurlet Hills in East Renfrewshire.
The Institute’s Recycling of Metals Scheme is a national initiative and works by sensitively recovering metals and orthopaedic implants following cremation with the consent of bereaved families.
David McNaughton, Manager of the Hurlet Crematorium, said:
“As professionals assisting the bereaved, we recognise the financial challenges that organisations supporting families at their most difficult and vulnerable time face. This £7000 raised for (the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice) will directly benefit the families they support.
“Our heart-felt thanks go to each and every family who consented to take part in the Institute’s national recycling scheme, without whom life-changing donations such as the one we are making today would not be possible.
“This is the second significant donation we have made to our local charities since we opened in December 2021, bringing the total raised to an incredible £19000.
Michelle Jeffcott, Head of Business Development at The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, said:
“Thank you so much to everyone at the Hurlet Crematorium and to the generous individuals who consented to participate in the scheme. The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice exists to care for 1200 patients each year to achieve the best quality of life possible in whatever time remains for them.
“While it may not be possible to add days to lives, we aim to add life to days. The hospice provides specialist palliative care for those living with terminal and life limiting illnesses. Our team works to support the physical and emotional needs of our patients and their loved ones. They are at the heart of everything we do. The money raised will go a long way to supporting our vital work here at Glasgow’s Hospice.”

“Since its inception in 2006, the Institute’s national recycling of metals initiative has raised over £19 Million and has helped over 460 different charities, and it gives great comfort for those who have contributed to the scheme, to know that the money raised is used to support outstanding organisation’s like the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in the delivery of such important and sensitive end of life care.
